The Sustainability and Circular Economy Course is for innovators, businesses or organisations. It is a four-week course of free, online specialist workshops taking place from the 24th of January – 16th of February. It will give you a solid grounding in the fundamentals of sustainability and the circular economy from a variety of concepts to practical solutions.

The GLIDE programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Buckinghamshire New University

This course will inspire innovators, entrepreneurs and business leaders to develop new ways of creating value from the transition towards a circular economy. Individuals will be introduced to multiple frameworks, practices, models and terms in increasing their overall knowledge whilst being able to put this new understanding into real life and business changes.

This course will introduce you to the Circular Economy highlighting the substantial economic, social and environmental benefits that have been gained in organisations of various sizes and across a variety of sectors. 

What will the course cover?

The topics will be covered by the best expert in the field and you also get the chance to get up to £2000 in grant funding, also you will have 1-2-1 mentoring sessions, claim our partners deals of AWS, IBM, HubSpot and more. This will be accompanied with access to MystartupSprint platform for a bank of resources at your disposal. 

Module 1: Introduction to Sustainability

Define sustainability and its link to business and economics. Increase understanding of sustainability terms and practices; Triple Bottom Line (TBL); environmental, social and governance (ESG); the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Module 2: Circular Economy and Sustainable Business Models

Define what a circular economy is and the characteristics of a circular business model. Explore the benefits of a circular business model. Explore wider opportunities for help with transitioning such as carbon footprint calculators, developing a carbon reduction and action plan. Discover what a low carbon business looks like.

Module 3: What does a Sustainable Business look like?

Business case study-based learning from business owners, hear from 5 businesses working towards a sustainable future. Putting knowledge into practice. Learn how to build a sustainable culture in organisations, and how to engage stakeholders, including how to incorporate other business strategies into the process.

Module 4: Sustainable Innovation in practice

Find out what matters most to SMEs. Hear about controlling resource costs, increasing (eco-)efficiency, competitiveness, investment limitations, eco-efficiency and circularity, design innovation (risks and rewards), business support organisations, what works (and what doesn’t)

GLIDE is offering business grants ranging from £1,000 – £2,000 to eligible businesses on a 2:1 basis meaning that for every £2 the business puts in; GLIDE will contribute £1 to the pot.
