The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
On signing the Covenant, BEC has entered into a commitment to promote itself as a forces-friendly organisation, work closely with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to
support the employment of Service leavers and support Armed Forces related charitable work & events. Furthermore, BEC has made additional commitments to play its part in working to increase access to entrepreneurial opportunities to those within the Armed Forces Community both within its own initiatives and also in supporting the work of the CTP and other relevant stakeholders.
In addition to signing the Covenant, BEC has also received the bronze award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). The ERS acknowledges employers who have provided exceptional support to the armed forces community and defence by going above and beyond their covenant pledges.

“Signing the Armed Forces Covenant was something we were extremely keen to do. We recognise the important role that the whole Armed Forces Community plays in the protection of our nation. It is down to society as a whole to recognise this and pay our complete gratitude to those who make this contribution. By signing the Covenant, BEC has made a series of promises to play our part in ensuring the Armed Forces Community is treated with the respect it deserves.”
Daniel Evans, Chief Executive Officer at Birmingham Enterprise Community
“We are delighted that Birmingham Enterprise Community has signed the Armed Forces Covenant and are very excited about this partnership. Some great work can be achieved in supporting people leaving the armed forces to find new opportunities and fulfilment, as well as raising the awareness of the training opportunities available for staff within the reserve forces or cadet forces.”
